Let's recap the events of this weekend... Friday: Schools let out 2 hours early due to the incoming winter weather. Everyone in the area was keeping a close eye on the most reliable weather forecast. We got a phone call from our friends, Wally, Mandi & Caleb, asking if we would want to get snowed in at their place... "SURE! Sounds fun!" ...And it was. We watched the snow accumulate to record depths... played hours of Wii... ate tons of great food... and Caleb and Em got in loads of playtime. Kevin and Tammy hiked over both evenings for dinner and more Wii sports... It was a great time. Sunday morning a giant CAT came through and cleared the snow... and we headed home to assess the back-breaking damage at our home.

We arrived at home to thankfully find that our neighbor had taken a snow blower to most of our driveway... AND, even with that great surprise, my car was still under 2 feet of snow and we couldn't get to the door of our house. SO, the never ending digging continued. Sunday night, Team Snowed In made their way to our place for a mini Super Bowl gathering. Again, good food, good company, good times.

Baltimore County Public Schools has closed down until Wednesday... and we are expecting another foot of snow tomorrow night. With 24" on the ground... 5-7 foot piles of snow everywhere... and another 12"+ on the way... We might be off from school all week... crazy.

Anyhow... more pics will come.

Welcoming in 2010

Photos from New Year's Eve. Happy 2010!

Our Christmas Weekend

Our Christmas celebration started Christmas Eve with our family in Elkton, Maryland. Thank you Angela, Eric, Sean, Patrick, Maddie, Barbara, Mom & Dad, Grandpa & Grandma for a wonderful dinner, desserts, gifts, and evening of fun.

We hopped in car Christmas Morning and headed south to our family in Crofton, Maryland. Thank you Mom Devlin, Katie, Gavin, Melissa & Karl for an outstanding breakfast, our gifts, and starting our Christmas travels off just right!

After driving back to Abingdon to pick up a few items we forgot (Craig's coat, hat, gloves, scarf, phone charger), we headed to Virgina to spend the rest of the weekend at 'The Mountain'. Thank you Mom & Dad for a wonderful weekend packed with great food, scrabble games, snowboarding, relaxing fires, and Mauzy.

Most of all... It was really great seeing everyone. We enjoyed spending quality time with all of you. Happy New Year!

Wrong Again!

Every school district in the area is closed today. I stand corrected.

Blizzard 2009 Day 2

As the sun lit up our street this morning, we were pleased to see
the plow had come trough during the night
. Unfortunately, it created a
three foot by five foot barrier of heavy wet snow between us and the road
to freedom. (we are only suffering from slight cabin fever...lol)

I have come to the conclusion that the true measure of
snow accumulation is not found in bootlegged yardsticks...
But in how buried your mailbox is when you are done
shoveling.

Our little Christmas cottage... like a postcard... or a Kincade painting.

I promise you that last night Em LOVED the snow.
Today? A very different response. Depending on the
school closures (I'm guessing schools will open) we'll
try again tomorrow.

Blizzard 2009

We put measuring sticks outside to track the blizzard's progress all day.
The front yard was reading 12inches at 2:00p.m.

The backyard was reading13 inches at 2:30 p.m.

The 9:00 p.m. backyard reading was 14 inches...
It looks as though our back porch will top out at 15 inches.

And, one more before hittin' the sack...
The front yard is reading 19 inches.

We did get a chance to get outside with Em... BUT, it was already dark and not good for picture taking. She loved it... giggling the whole time. We mainly spent the day looking out the window at our measuring sticks. I worked on grad class assignments ALL day. Tomorrow? I'll be working all day again... If I get Monday off I may even finish up this course early!
Joy!

Sleigh bells ring, are you listening,
In the lane, snow is glistening
A beautiful sight,
We're happy tonight.

Walking in a winter wonderland.
